About Bushveld Bivouac Private Camp

Bushveld Bivouac redefines not only the nature (pardon the pun) of glamping, but also the meaning of ‘bivouac’, technically speaking a temporary camp without tents or cover.

The ethos behind Bushveld Bivouac was to share a little piece of unspoilt nature with other people who would appreciate it’s value. Guests can revel in the supreme luxury of being away from it all, surrounded by bush sounds, a wide range of plains game and incredible birds. All sites are designed to fit in and flow with the natural features around them and offer eco-chic accommodation with plunge pools, self-catering and catered options and options that include an outside bath in an iconic setting or a wood-fired hot tub. Whether you decide on our luxury tented camp, Retreat cottage or Chill Piek, our aim is to ensure that a stay at Bushveld Bivouac is an exceptional treat for the soul: relaxing, recharging and inspiring all at once. We hope that it is a nostalgic and reaffirming experience for frequent bush travellers; and a wondrous, educational one for newcomers.

Located halfway between Hoedspruit and Phalaborwa, the farm lies just 40 minutes from the world­ famous Kruger Park’s Phalaborwa gate to the north, a bit over an hour’s drive from Orpen Gate to the south; and close to numerous other extraordinary destinations. While you’re on our farm, however, it’s all about walking, mountain biking, or simply soaking up the incredible views from each site’s decks, surrounded by pristine bush and incredible birdlife – with the odd curious antelope venturing past.

So, the only dimension of the technical definition that really applies at Bushveld Bivouac is the temporary nature of your stay. And even in that regard, we’ve had loads of guests who were extremely reluctant to leave! And even though your stay with us may be temporary, we’re sure that you’ll be back again and again to savour the beauty and peace of this very special piece of Africa.

ROOM TYPES:

Luxury Tented Camp: Aptly situated on a hill called Phezulu, meaning ‘high point’, our four luxury suites invite you to indulge in the height of glamping: beautifully decked platforms with plunge bools and fire pit or boma, breathtaking views and unmatched privacy. King-size beds covered in the finest cotton linens, a fully equipped kitchen and private bathroom await. While the honeymoon tented suite, Seringa, boasts an iconic outdoor bath, Marula suite offers a wood-fired hot tub amidst lush greenery.

Retreat Cottage: This cosy cottage comprises a queen-size bed, en suite bathroom, dining area, fully equipped kitchen, high-speed Wi-Fi. Relax on the verandah with its plunge pool, or warm your feet at the braai/fire pit on crisp evenings. Ignite your senses under the outdoor shower, and marvel at the sounds of giraffe, wildebeest, zebra and nyala nearby. Fully off grid, Retreat Cottage is minutes from our main gate.

Chill Plek: Perfect for groups, couples, solo adventurers, the Chill Plek consists of three en suite safari tents situated above a dry river bed with stunning views. Every suite has its own private mini outdoor deck for sumptuous sunsets or morning coffee. Enjoy an ultra-private outdoor bathroom! The main area has USB charger plugs and complimentary Wi-Fi. Lounge at the plunge pool, or spend long mesmerizing evenings around the braai pit.
