How can I find the best possible deals available?

BushBreaks & More strives to offer our clients the best possible prices. We purposely highlight the best possible rate, so that you can plan around them and in so doing benefit from the best available price.

HOT TIP

To find the best deals, select the 'Last minute deals' or the 'Specials' Tabs on the website home page.

The best available rate is shown on the website as a 'From' price, however, in most cases the best rate will have certain terms and conditions, or validity dates as specified by the property concerned to qualify for the special rates. Should you be able to travel within the validity dates for a special, you can benefit from some fabulous specials. If your travel dates are not flexible, you can also view the other rates on the BushBreaks website.

The main market for most of the Safari Industry in Africa is the international market , and for international guests, the properties charge a premium rate. This is a global practice in the travel industry. With the international market being considerably more lucrative, the lodge industry tends to focus more on this market. The international market does however generally book with longer lead times, based on the premise that one plans an international getaway, months in advance. If a lodge has availability in the month ahead, they are unlikely to get international guests. In such instances a property may decide to offer a reduced rate to the local market to fill the lodge. This is where BushBreaks & More's last-minute specials fit in.

We offer our clients the opportunity to experience these top-notch properties at significantly reduced rates. However, to do so, one needs to 'seize the day' and be prepared to book at the last minute (within the time period specified by the special in question). These last-minute specials are for travel within the specified time; for example, to benefit from a 21-day last-minute rate you need to book and travel within the next 21 days. (You cannot book it now and use it in 2 months' time. It must be used within the stipulated 21-day time frame).

All rates advertised by BushBreaks & More are per person, per night, sharing (pp/pn sharing). Please multiply by 2 to get the cost for 2 guests sharing a room.

  • Rates are all subject to availability at the time of booking confirmation.
  • Rate surcharges (i.e. an additional fee) may apply for bookings over peak holiday periods and long weekends.
  • Please note: There are a few exceptions where the cost is for exclusive use for the property, in which case the rates is for the house per night. In these cases, this exception will be clearly indicated on the deal.

SOUTH AFRICAN RESIDENTS

South African residents qualify for a rate that is lower than the rate for international guests, however, to qualify for this rate many properties will insist on seeing your South African ID (for all guests traveling). A copy of ID, work permit or endorsed passport may be required at the time of booking or upon check-in at the lodge.

SADC RESIDENTS

SADC countries include; Angola, Botswana, The Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Swaziland, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe. SADC residents in most cases, also qualify for the South African Residents Rate, or a similar SADC special. To qualify for these rates many properties will also insist on seeing your ID. (as per information for South African Residents, as stated above).

The rate charged for a single room varies from lodge to lodge.

  •  The majority of lodges apply a 50% surcharge on the per person per night sharing rate.
  • Some lodges charge a 100% surcharge, especially over Peak Holiday Periods.
  • Occasionally a lodge will waiver the single supplement.

We encourage you to please look at the inclusions for the rate that you are interested in, so you know what to expect. Most game lodges in South Africa offer full board with two activities or game drives per day.

What 'Fully Inclusive' means:

This includes dinner, bed, breakfast, lunch and specified local brand drinks.

What 'Full Board' means:

This includes dinner, bed, breakfast and lunch - (no drinks included).

What 'Half Board' means:

This includes just dinner, bed, breakfast - (no lunch, no drinks and no extras)..

Special offers are generally offered to encourage bookings during quieter periods, and in line with this, specific terms and conditions always apply to the special offers.

LONG STAY SPECIALS

For these special rates one pays for 2 nights and get the 3rd night for free, or it may be to pay for 3 nights and get the 4th night for free.

HOW 'LAST-MINUTE' CAN A
'LAST-MINUTE BOOKING' REALLY BE?

While we specialise in what is known as 'last-minute bookings', there are practical limitations on just how 'last-minute' a booking can be.

BushBreaks & More is not able to process bookings within 48 hours of travel due to the back-end process and payments required. Please bear in mind that the lodges that we work with are small operations and do not all have top end technology and they require the payments up front, hence the need to us to have this cut-off period.

  • Children 12 years or older are generally considered adults and the full rate will apply.
  • Children 12 years or older may also have to occupy their own room.
  • The exact age of children is necessary to ensure we quote accurately.
  • The system we use for our quotes calculates the child rate and adds this to the quotation total.
  • Properties may not be able to accommodate children in all room types or they may restrict the number of children allowed to share the same room with their parents.

ARE CHILDREN ALLOWED TO GO ON GAME DRIVES?

  • The general rule is that children 6 years and older are permitted on drives at the discretion of the game ranger & lodge management.
  • Younger children struggle to sit still and may cause possible disturbances at sightings.
  • Rangers are not permitted to go too close to Big 5 sightings when children are on the vehicle, which can compromise the experience for other guests.
  • A private vehicle may be booked, dependent on availability of a vehicle and ranger; however a surcharge will apply for a private vehicle. Private vehicle rates differ from lodge to lodge. Please enquire with your BushBreaks & More Consultant

Every lodge has its own policy. Please refer to the child policy for the relevant lodge on the BushBreaks & More website.
